New Year, New Outlook
I haven't updated things in a while, and I guess that's because there hasn't been a lot to say. A few interesting things have happened in my life, yet I know that I am the only person who sees these, so they are really only for my benefit.
the holidays were uneventful. We saw some family, ate and cooked a lot of good food, and were glad when it was over.
Getting through the holiday season can be a challenge when you are waiting to adopt or are experiencing fertility issues. Everyone talks about family. And yours doesn't necessarily fit into the worldview of what family is.
I saw my brother recently for the first time in several years. I would like to say we are close, yet at this point we live separate lives. Just the same it was good to reconnect.
We adopted a dog a month ago. He is a small terrier type, and seems to be very smart, however he is proving to be a challenge with the other animals.
There hasn't been any baby news, aside from a few screenings. I am trying to stay impartial, yet as always it is a challenge to know I could be a parent at any moment and not be obsessed.
During the entirety of last month, I abstained from drinking, and going out to eat for the most part. I also developed my fasting routine and have succeeded in limiting myself to one meal per day during the week. As a result of my efforts I lost nine pounds last month.
My clothes fit better. I feel more comfortable as well. I fully intend to continue my fasting routine, and since I am out of the habit of drinking so much alcohol, I am going to curtail my normal drinking routine to one or two per outing.
My hope is that I will be at something approaching a normal, healthy weight by this summer.
I have had a breakthrough concerning my soon to be ex-husband. I finally received a response from him, and after he sent me a better address to send the divorce forms to, they have been signed by him, sent on to Vermont Family court, and there is a date set for the final hearing on February 26th.
If all goes well on that day they will dissolve our union and I will then be single. Hooray!
