Homestudy! And an overdose....

It is coincidental that it has been almost a year to the day since I've made the last entry in this blog. We are still working toward adoption; and as a matter of fact, our first home study is tomorrow!

I am both excited and nervous. It took us a long time to actually get to this point. And to be honest we took a long time. The stack of forms and letters required are daunting to say the least.
But we are here finally. If all goes well with the home study we should be waiting to be matched as the new year begins.

The last few weeks have been busy, with lots of preparation and cleaning. We bought our house a year and a half ago, and there were several things that needed repairs and attention. I'm actually grateful that we have the inspiration to get them done!

On a sad note, I received a call this weekend from one of my nephews that my sister was taken too the Critical Care Unit after having a seizure. It turns out that she had a stroke due to complications from methamphetamine use.

We ( K and I ) went to see her, but she was sedated and had a breathing tube. It was a shock. I am frustrated at the situation. She has been using for a long while, and her boyfriend does as well. I hope she can get into rehab and recover from this.

After I left, they removed her tube and she woke up. I am going to call the hospital this morning to get an update. Hopefully it is good news.

Update:

My sister made it back home. She is still in a precarious living situation, yet I am hopeful she can get into a more stable environment and I am committed to supporting her in staying off of drugs.

Our first home study went well! In fact, rather than write about it in this entry, I think I will save it for a separate entry altogether.
